Welcome to the Replicant Detection Section, commonly referred to as Rep-detect. You have all been specially selected to join this special branch of the police force dedicated to detecting and eliminating escaped Replicants. As far as the general public is concerned, this is a very minor problem concerning the recovery of a few remaining Class 1 or 2 replicants that occasionally surface and that we mostly assist with other android and robot crimes. While we do have occasion to assist regular detectives with certain of the advanced robotics related crimes, the fact is that Replicant Detection is far more serious and widespread than we dare let on to the public at large. It is all very well passing a law to ban replicants on Earth, but there are plenty of people willing to break the law to keep what reps were already here when the law was passed. As time passes, it isn't the Class 1 and 2 reps that cause us the big problems. As you were all regular detectives before, you undoubtedly are aware of or at least have heard tell that we regularly have to chase after renegade Class 3 and 4 replicants and even Class 5 skinjobs. This problem is not petering out over time, it is getting worse. Some of you may also have heard a rumour about a situation involving some Class 6 replicants that returned from the Outer Rim to Los Angeles last year. As new recruits to Rep-Detect, I am authorized to tell you that this rumour is true. Yes. Last November, six Nexus 6 replicants hijacked a shuttle Off-World and returned here. Two were fried by a security electrical field at Tyrell Corporation when they tried to break in. The other four were eliminated by us. Unfortunately, this is not the only time we have had to deal with Sixes. The public knowing about replicants from before the ban still existing and escaping to mix with them is bad enough. I must stress that it would cause serious panic if they were to find out that Class 6 reps can make it back to Earth or even worse, that a number of experimental replicants have been known to escape from facilities here on Earth. The Fives can easily pass as humans - the early Sixes are extremely hard to detect and the problem is getting worse. You have all been identified as showing the right aptitudes. We will teach you the basics you need to know, but it will only be by going out on the street partnering a more experienced Blade Runner that you will really start to learn the instinct. Learn well. The Fives don't always come easily and Sixes will not hesitate to kill you. They won't feel compassion or regret. They will simply kill you and move on. It is up to you to retire them first. Since the Off-World rebellion a few years ago and their subsequent banning on Earth, we are authorized to shoot on site ... but only if we are sure.
